Gunsmoke
1955-1975 | Western | USA | Created by Charles Marquis Warren
Overview
Twenty seasons and 635 episodes: Dodge City, Matt Dillon, Miss Kitty, Doc, and Festus. The adult western came from radio with film craft and James Arness towering over it. Top rated for years and the longest running prime time drama for decades afterward. Consequences, community, and dirt: the western grew up here. The last network western standing after 1975.
