The Wire
2002-2008 | Crime | USA | Created by David Simon
Overview
Baltimore as institutional tragedy: the drug trade, the docks, city hall, the schools, the press. Simon, a Baltimore Sun reporter, and Ed Burns, a cop, built the novel for television: 60 episodes, five seasons, one city. Omar, McNulty, Bunk. Low ratings, permanent canon: the greatest drama per many critics polls. All the pieces matter. It taught the world systemic storytelling.
