Columbo
1968-1978 | Crime | USA | Created by Richard Levinson and William Link
Overview
Just one more thing: Peter Falk as the rumpled lieutenant in a trench coat and a cigar, inverting the mystery by showing the murder first. The inverted detective story: howcatchem instead of whodunit. Falk improvised, and the guest murderers were movie stars having fun. Revived across decades to 2003. The detective as friendly terrier, genius in shlub clothing.
