Gervais and Merchant built the mockumentary cringe format: fourteen episodes total across two series and specials, and total influence. Tim and Dawn, Gareth, the Brent dance. Golden Globes and a format remade worldwide: the American version became a giant itself. Fact. The office comedy was never the same.
