Monty Pythons Flying Circus
1969-1974 | Comedy | UK | Created by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin
Overview
And now for something completely different: the surreal sketch show that ended sketch comedy as previously known. The Ministry of Silly Walks, the Dead Parrot, the Spanish Inquisition that no one expected. The Pythons deconstructed punchlines and linked sketches with Gilliam cutout animation. PBS and late night made them a cult, then an industry. Their influence on modern comedy is total.
