Blackadder
1983-1989 | Comedy | UK | Created by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton
Overview
Four eras of Edmund Blackadder, with Rowan Atkinson scheming downward through history. The first season was medieval spectacle, then Curtis and Elton sharpened him for Elizabethan, Regency, and the trenches. Baldrick and his cunning plans, with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie rotating as foils. The final seconds of Blackadder Goes Forth, the field and the poppies, moved Britain. The cleverest historical farce ever staged.
